International Table Top Day

So this weekend I was supposed to be running a Swords & Wizardry Complete Demo at Stay and Play Games  for their Stay and Play Games International Table Top Day Event.  Unfortunately I do not have a sitter for my five year old daughter, and so I had to bow out.  On the bright side, there is a good looking ITTD event going on on the east side (for those in Metro-Detroit.)  Here is a shake down from their various pages:

Door Prizes, giveaways and Demos all day. Drinks and snacks available to purchase. Now, it’s time to take tabletop gaming’s popularity to the next level. Beginning on March 30th of this year, there will be an annual International TableTop Day, a day to celebrate board games and tabletop gaming and play games with colleagues, family, and friends.
2 dollars at the door admission. Members get in FREE.

Food all day....coneys will start at 11am, then afterwards we move into LUNCH....fish and chips or perhaps broasted chicken? You decide, even steak dinners will be available. food will be served 11 to 8pm. come hungry come ready to play.

Actual game day schedule for saturday march 30 is coming together. we will have 5 tables of board game demo's going all at once all day and evening. 11am-11pm. Food all day until 8pm. Prizes for demo winners, giveaways, promotional sales, 50/50 raffles and membership drive. All board games are marked from 10-40 percent off. Warhammer 40k up to 20 percent off. Game schedule for the whole day will be posted later today so keep checking. Thanks for your support.

11am until 6pm Table 1 and 2................Warhammer 40k...........come learn, come play, just come.

I have been to Stay and Play, and they seem to be pretty good folks.  I mean, hell, they were going to let me run a Swords & Wizardry demo.  This looks to be like it will turn out to be a mini-convention, and it sounds sweet.  If the games they list don't tickle your fancy, go check out their IMMENSE game library!  It sounds like a blast, and I wish I could be there.  If you're in Metro Detroit on the east side, you should be!

Ernie Gygax Fire Relief Trust Fund Donations

You likely know about the devastating fire that took Ernie Gygax home at the end of last month.  You might also know that the Gygax Magazine website has the relief fund donation center up and running!  In addition to the promised auction that will benefit the same cause that is.  It can all be found here.  I urge you to go there and donate what you can.  As times are tight for me right now, I will help where I can by posting things of this nature.  To further help I promise that I will keep a link up on this page to draw in new donations for the life of the fund.  It can be found on the right hand side of my blog in the uppermost corner.  Just click on the picture of Ernie and Luke and you'll be there!  Please take it upon yourself to help out a gamer in need!

Yes, today marks the fifth year since the passing one of the forefathers our our hobby.  Not a day to be sad, but a day to remember the joy that he brought to us through our shared game, whatever edition.  It is also a day to pay tribute to one of the key men who brought our game to the forefront.  I was planning on doing a post of this nature today, linking back to the memorial fund.  I think there is a better way to remember our collective sire this year, however.  A you may have known, Gary's eldest son lost his home and all of his possessions in a fire just weeks ago.  I urge you to donate to help get Ernie Gary Gygax Jr. back up and on his feet!  If you wish to help out you can donate through Paypal at ErniesTrust@GygaxMagazine.com.   It is also fairly well known that at this time there is a going to be an auction to help out at Garycon this month.

 Luke Gygax :

Many thanks to Tim Kask

He is digging deep to help raise money for my brother Ernest Gary Gygax Jr. who lost everything in a recent house fire. I appreciate the many people that are donating items to the Gary Con Auction for Ernie e as well: Jeff Easley, Erol Otus, Rob Kuntz, Frank Mentzer, Tom Wham, Jeffrey P. Talanian and others.

If you have the means this year, honor Gary Gygax by helping and honoring his son.

In honor of Gary, I close with a link to Stephen Chenault's memories of Gary: Remembering Gary
